A few days ago I spoke with Ninja Assassin director James McTeigue at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX (full interview is forthcoming). At the end I asked him to give me an update on a few of his projects, including his next feature The Raven, which SlashFilm first revealed back in August. I also just had to ask him about the Superman rumor again (see here), since that rumor just doesn’t ever seem to go away. While he reiterated what we already know about Warner Brothers putting Superman on hold for the time being, he did reveal a bit about what he would do if he ever does direct a Superman movie. You’ll definitely want to hear this.
Before we get to Superman, let’s look at The Raven first. Inspired by the famous Edgar Allen Poe poem of the same name, The Raven follows Poe and the last five days before …

No official trailer for Clash of the Titans yet, but this might be a good sign that it’s coming soon. Empire has debuted their new cover shot today featuring Sam Worthington as Perseus in Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans. I know it’s just a new cover shot (for now), but Empire usually picks great photos, and this is no exception. It goes great along with the other two photos from this movie that were debuted back in June. Also found in the actual Titans article are a few more awesome shots (that I’m sure we’ll have much larger versions of soon enough). Can’t wait to read everything in this article, too. Check out the new photos below!
Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus …

Big casting news for a DreamWorks project. Variety reports that Hugh Jackman is “in talks” to star in Shawn Levy’s Real Steel, the BattleBots-like movie about a father and son who take a robot to the Bot Boxing Championship. However, the bots in this aren’t small. The film is set in the near future, where people control human-like 2000-pound robots that duke it out in the boxing ring. Kind of like the gaming in Gerard Butler’s Gamer, but with a better story. Variety calls it a “Rocky-with-robots saga” with Jackman playing “an ex-fighter who becomes a promoter when human boxing is outlawed for being too violent.”
So Jackman isn’t playing the father in the story, or maybe he is? The story continues: “The new gladiators are 2000-pound robots with human qualities. The ex-fighter’s access to sub-standard robot parts hampers his hopes for glory in Robot Boxing, until he discovers a discarded …

This new video from Splash News isn’t that impressive, but it features our first look at Seth Rogen as Britt Reid, aka The Green Hornet, on the set of his new movie The Green Hornet. That first look at his costume pops up right around 32 seconds into the video, but besides that, this features a whole lot of explosions and action scenes that would give Michael Bay a hard on. And if I have to make a statement, I like the look, I think it’s a fitting contemporary version of the Green Hornet costume worn by Van Williams back in the 60’s. I’m digging the vest. Come on, did anyone think Michel Gondry wouldn’t have great costume design?!
Update: Apparently that’s actually Rogen’s stunt double seen in the video above. However, JFX Online has some actual photos of Rogen in his costume without his mask …

Although I know not everyone is as big of a fan of Steven Soderbergh as I, he’s still a great director that makes solid films. Now that The Informant is out, he’s starting prep on a spy thriller called Knockout that will star real life MMA fighter, and hottie, Gina Carano. Empire just talked with Soderbergh and learned that it may be pretty badass, like an old school James Bond flick. He describes Knockout as “a combination of a Bond movie and Point Blank,” though, “more on the scale of From Russia With Love than, you know, Quantum Of Solace… Something where the characters and the story are as prominent as the action stuff.”
When this was originally announced, it was described as a “flat out action movie” that follows a tough girl from the wrong side of the tracks who takes the opportunity to use a special set of skills …

Heat Vision has announced three more actors who will be joining the cast of Andrew Stanton’s John Carter of Mars. First off, they confirm that Thomas Haden Church, who already previously revealed that he was in this, is officially on-board. He will play Tal Hajus, an ambitious and vicious Thark warrior who is biding his time to be a ruler. Additionally, it was announced that British actors James Purefoy and Mark Strong are also joining the project. Purefoy plays Kantos Kan, the captain of the Xavarian, the kingdom of Helium’s grand warship. Strong is Matai Shang, the ruler of the Thems with godlike status.
Stanton has rounded up one hell of a cast for this, that’s for sure. Leading the way are young actors Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins; additionally on-board are Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton, Dominic West, and Polly Walker. Most people know I’ve been a huge supporter of …
